A Safer, More Manageable Home

Homemaker Assistance

Practical household support that helps an eligible person maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable home.

Homemaker services help with routine household activities when a person is unable to manage them independently. The exact tasks and schedule are based on assessed needs and the authorized support plan.

Services may include

  • Light household cleaning and organization.
  • Laundry and basic linen care.
  • Meal preparation and related cleanup.
  • Shopping for household essentials.
  • Other routine homemaking tasks identified in the support plan.

How support is planned

The purpose is to help maintain the person’s home environment—not to provide skilled nursing, major home repair, or services outside the assessed and authorized plan. Tasks are documented and delivered in a way that respects personal routines, preferences, and independence.

Eligibility and authorization

Coverage depends on the applicable Minnesota program, assessment results, and the person’s support plan. A case manager, care coordinator, county, tribal nation, or managed care organization may be involved in determining eligibility and service amount.
